OUR STORY
Founded in 2019, Kreation by KJ was born from a deep love for Indian crafts and textiles, and a fascination with transforming traditional artistry into beautiful, contemporary outfits for the modern woman. Each piece is thoughtfully designed, blending age-old craftsmanship with contemporary style.
The brand is the brainchild of our founder, Kavita Jha, a former Radio Jockey who chose to leave her career behind and follow her passion for fashion, design, and handicrafts. Her love for music and radio continues to inspire Kreation by KJ, reflected in many of our collection and product names—each carrying a little story and a melody of its own.
FROM A 12 × 12 SQ. FT. ROOM
Kavita started Kreation by KJ from a 12 × 12 sq. ft. room in her home, with little more than her passion, creativity, and determination.
Just five months after starting the brand, the pandemic and lockdown brought everything to a standstill. But Kavita didn't give up. Once the lockdown eased, she began rebuilding the business from the ground up.
In those early days, she wore every hat herself—designing, stitching, finishing, packing, and shipping every order. Her daughter stood beside her as the brand's first media manager, helping create content and build the brand's presence online.
What started in one small room gradually grew into a thriving, women-led brand. Today, Kreation by KJ directly employs over 30 women and supports several others indirectly, creating opportunities while keeping the spirit of local craftsmanship alive.

From the initial idea and design to fabric selection, embroidery, stitching, finishing, quality checks, packing, and shipping, we maintain close involvement in every stage of the product journey.
We believe strongly in “Shop Local.” Our products are designed and created from scratch in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, celebrating the region's rich craftsmanship and textile heritage.
